The call aims to support the development of innovative solutions and improvements with novelty value within the framework of the technical action areas of the program’s scope document.

What can you apply for?
Project with the character of industrial research or experimental development that contributes to Swedish Metals & Minerals´ mission through solutions or improvements within the program´s technical action areas.

Who can apply?
Consortia with at least three parties, of which at least one is a Swedish research organization (university, university college or research institute) and at least one company with activities in Sweden. All project parties must be legal entities.

How much can you apply for?

• There is no set maximum funding amount per project, but 20-30 projects are expected to be financed within the call´s budget of SEK 125 million.
• Vinnova´s funding may amount to a maximum of 60% of the project´s total eligible cost.

The call for proposals aims to strengthen Sweden’s potential in the program’s social action areas.

What can you apply for?
Projects with the character of industrial research or experimental development in one of the following priority areas (described in more detail in section 2.2 of the program’s scope document):

• Social objectives
• Skills supply
• Education
• Internationalization
• Attractiveness

Who can apply?
Consortia with at least three project partners, of which at least one is a Swedish research organization (university, college or research institute). All project partners must be legal entities.

How much can you apply for?

• There is no fixed maximum grant amount per project, but 6-8 projects are expected to be funded within the call’s budget of SEK 25 million
• Vinnova’s contribution may amount to a maximum of 70% of the total eligible cost of the project

By funding short thematic research and innovation projects, the program will strengthen Sweden’s capabilities within some of the program’s technical focus areas.

Four themes are identified as urgent and/or not sufficiently addressed in Swedish Metals & Minerals first call for technical pre-studies.

What can you apply for?

• Access to critical raw materials from Sweden;
• Increasing the use of scrap and other secondary raw materials;
• Sustainable water management in the mining and metals production sectors;
• Lowering the environmental impact from large waste streams in the mining and metal production sectors.

Who can apply?
The Swedish Energy Agency is by this call addressing: companies (legal entities), public sector, universities and colleges, research institues and non-governmental organizations.

How much can you apply for?

• Announced funds is approximately 30 million SEK (expectation is to finance 2 – 4 projects in each theme)
• Maximum funding per project: 3.5 MSEK
• Maximum aid intensity: 70% for the overall project

• Closes: September 3, 2025, at 23:59 CET
• Decision given: November, 2025
• Project allowed to start: November 15, 2025
• Project must start by: December 1, 2025
• Project duration: 2 years

What can you apply for?
Industrial research or experimental development projects contributing to Swedish Metals & Minerals´ mission by investigating and developing the interaction between humans and technology or between humans, technology and organization.

Who can apply?
Consortia with at least three parties, where at least one is a Swedish company. Other project parties may come from, for example, the public sector, business, academia, the institute sector or civil society. Project parties must be legal entities.

How much can you apply for?
Maximum funding is SEK 3,500,000 per project, where Vinnova´s funding may amount to a maximum of 70 % of the total eligible cost.
