Maria Swartling

Our Program Director!

Maria has a Master of Science in Materials Engineering and a PhD in Metallurgy, educated at KTH. With several years of experience from the regional innovation system and small and medium-sized enterprises in the industry, she currently leads the innovation platform Sustainable Steel Region. Raised in Borlänge and educated in Stockholm, she has now settled down with her family in Sandviken.

Program Office work packages

The Program Office is divided into different work packages based on area of expertise. Here we bring together the knowledge and experience of our partner organizations to address key challenges and work towards the mission.

Find us where industry meets innovation

The Program Office is led by the coordinator Jernkontoret in collaboration with Luleå University of Technology, LTU Business, Sustainable Steel Region, SveMin, the Swedish Foundry Association, Swedish Aluminum and Örebro University.

We are represented with offices in Luleå, Stockholm, Sandviken and Örebro, where the industry has a strong presence. The program is stakeholder-driven and involves actors in the mining, metals, recycling and manufacturing industries, academia, research institutes, municipalities, regions, associations, trade unions and public authorities.

Our program is a gathering of actors working in and around the mining and metals industry, but we aim for the transformation of the whole society. We welcome ideas for future activities from all types of actors that can contribute to the mission of the program.
