News
On March 12-13, 2025, the Strategic Innovation Program Metallic Materials held its annual program conference at Skogshem & Wijk on Lidingö in Stockholm. This year’s conference attracted over 200 participants, who enjoyed two days filled with interesting speakers and exciting and detailed project presentations. Swedish Metals & Minerals was on site and met some of Sweden’s metal researchers.
The Strategic Innovation Program Metallic Materials Program Conference 2025 had 220 participants on site during the two conference days. The event arena at Skogshem & Wijk on Lidingö in Stockholm was filled with eager participants when parts of the Metallic Materials Program Office opened the conference by summarizing the past 12 years of the program.
The natural continuation around metals research lies with the Impact Innovation programs, among others. So it was appropriate that the next person up on stage was Maria Swartling, Program Director of Swedish Metals & Minerals! Maria was joined by Mats Lundin, Deputy Program Manager Net Zero Industries and Anna Maria Sundin, Assistant Program Manager Water Wise Societies. They presented their programs and talked about the direction and focus of the research areas they target and how the programs can collaborate to get the most out of the research.
During the day, many current and interesting topics were raised. These included research opportunities within the EU, projects and material challenges in hydrogen and a gender equality survey carried out as projects within Metallic Materials.
The Swedish Energy Agency talked about upcoming energy research initiatives and addressed important parts of the energy research proposal. The Government’s Research and Innovation proposal was presented by Maria Nilsson, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education. She discussed the initiatives and ambitions in the proposal and its focus on research infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, research and innovation for societal needs and competitive transition.
Swedish Metals & Minerals was represented throughout the program conference. At one table representatives of the program office mingled with other participants and talked about the program, open calls and future plans.
