Sustainable supply chains for a resilient industry (Supplychain)

Purpose and goal

The overall aim of the project is to use the mining industry as an example to strengthen the industry´s resilience and adaptability by researchers working together with the client organisation and suppliers to create knowledge as a basis for policy instruments for socially sustainable supply chains.

Expected effects and result

One result is a knowledge base developed in dialogue that can be used in concrete ways to ensure social sustainability in the procurement process and related sustainability reporting to support both parties. Additional performance targets are a forum for discussion and increased consensus between key players beyond current forms of meetings and business relationships.

Planned approach and implementation

Initially, the current conditions for socially sustainable supply chains are analyzed through interviews. Subsequently, the knowledge is further developed via forward-looking workshops with key stakeholders. Throughout the project, a joint knowledge process takes place where LTU, IVL, LKAB, and Metso regularly meet to discuss preliminary project results. The final outcome is presented as a knowledge base for sustainable supply chains, which is communicated through a dissemination seminar.
