Methods for a gender equal metal and mineral industry (GENMMIN)
Important results from the project
GENMMIN is based on the premise that gender equality is a prerequisite for securing future competence and must be addressed by creating inclusive workplace cultures. The feasibility study has laid the foundation for an integrated approach, aligned with gender mainstreaming and systematic work environment management. In parallel, the project has developed knowledge on how industry actors can support each other through shared learning and exchange, building on existing forums and contexts.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to help position gender equality as a strategic concern in the industry´s transition, with a focus on creating workplaces where more people can thrive, develop, and remain. By strengthening inclusive workplace cultures and fostering sector-wide learning within existing forums, the project creates conditions for lasting change that engages a broader range of actors and is anchored in organizational leadership and decision-making.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out as a joint knowledge process between researchers, method experts and representatives from three companies. The work began with inventories of existing working methods and was followed by joint meetings where experiences and perspectives were exchanged. Methods for making norms visible were tested and further developed. Interviews were conducted with key individuals to explore opportunities for collaboration and anchor the results in a wider industrial context.
