Gamified Learning for Sustainable Mining (MineLearn)
Important results from the project
MineLearn achieved its goals by developing and testing a prototype simulating the full mineral value chain with integrated ESG scoring. Key results include a validated method for gamified mining education, strong user interest, new collaborations with international evaluators and academic institutions, and the planned involvement of additional partners in a continuation project, pending funding.
Expected long term effects
MineLearn is a stepping stone toward full implementation of the Mine2Learn e-learning platform. With further funding, the full-scale platform will strengthen competence supply in the mining sector, attract new and more diverse talent, and give students and professionals deeper insight into sustainability issues. The project positions Sweden as an international leader in digital and sustainable mining education.
Approach and implementation
The project was organized in four work packages: coordination, design, game development and evaluation. Activities followed the timeline and produced a working prototype published online. Collaboration among partners worked very well and broadened expertise. Adjustments were made to the user interface and course structure to strengthen ESG content. The project delivered strong results and a blueprint for full-scale implementation.
