Swedish Metals & Minerals is a program within Impact Innovation initiative. Our mission is to ensure a sustainable and resilient metal and mineral supply for the societal transition. Our program is a gathering of actors working in and around the mining and metals industry, but we aim for the entire society’s transition. We welcome ideas from all types of actors that can contribute to the program’s mission.
A more detailed description of Swedish Metals & Minerals and our mission can be found in our scope document here.
Currently, Swedish Metals & Minerals has two different tools:
- Open calls, which provide the opportunity to apply for research funding for projects within a defined area, and for a certain period of time. There are often specific conditions for how the projects are to be conducted, for example, specific themes, how long the projects can last, or how the project’s stakeholder constellation can be composed.
- Strategic projects, which, according to Impact Innovation, should aim to fund precision interventions with defined activities or results needed to achieve stated goals and sub-goals, and with expected significance for transformational power and benefit. Read more here. In addition, Swedish Metals & Minerals requires that strategic projects have collaborative constellations, working methods or issues that cannot be expected to arise in response to an open call.
Other types of tools may become relevant, the program is therefore also open to other types of proposals and ideas.
Proposals received are regularly processed by Swedish Metals & Minerals’ advisory board Mission Control, the program’s Steering Committee and funding agencies. Note that the planning horizon for activities is long, often up to one year. Swedish Metals & Minerals is therefore unable to process proposals that are close in time.
Proposals received are compiled monthly and processed regularly on a quarterly basis.
