We proudly present Maria Swartling, Program Director of Metals & Minerals which is part of Impact Innovation – an initiative of the Swedish Energy Agency, Formas and Vinnova.
Maria holds a MSc in Materials Engineering and a PhD in Metallurgy from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, with several years of experience in the regional innovation system as well as in small and medium-sized enterprises in industry. She is also the Executive Director of the Sustainable Steel Region innovation platform. Maria grew up in Borlänge and has settled with her family in Sandviken after studying in Stockholm. She has an understanding of the entire value chain, not only technically but also from various enabling perspectives.
What other perspectives do you think you can bring to the program?
-I have experience from industry, especially from SMEs. In small companies, I have learned the importance of taking into account all systemic perspectives to achieve the company’s vision: solutions, business models, regulations, networks and much more. I also have knowledge of the innovation and business support system and have worked within it at both regional and national level.
“I am looking forward to working in a program that has a systemic perspective, whose task is to create synergies by identifying and connecting the right dots with each other” – Maria Swartling
