Sustainable Human Work Index in the Swedish mining industry – Phase 2 (SHWI2)

Purpose and goal

The project aims to further develop and scientifically validate the Sustainable Human Work Index (SHWI), a method and prototype that measures and strengthens brain health, cognitive performance and social sustainability in working life. The goal is to test SHWI in an industrial environment and demonstrate it in relevant environments within the Swedish mining and steel industry.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to result in a validated prototype of SHWI, including indicators for physical and digital work environment, working methods and lifestyle. The impacts include increased knowledge about cognitive work environment, improved methods for social sustainability, and strengthened attractiveness and long-term skills supply in the industry.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is being carried out in collaboration between research actors and industrial partners. The work includes method development, testing in laboratory and industrial environments. Data collection is carried out with sensors and questionnaires according to legal and ethical guidelines.
