A Gamified Approach to Sustainable Mining Education (Mine2Learn)

Purpose and goal

The Mine2Learn project aims to develop and implement a gamified e-learning platform that increases understanding of the sustainable mineral value chain. The goal is to combine technical mining expertise with ESG principles in realistic decision-making environments and to create educational content for universities, industry and the general public.

Expected effects and result

The project delivers a fully developed gamified e-learning platform, course materials, and user documentation, supported by pilot studies and user feedback. Effects include improved understanding of sustainable mining, enhanced skills development in academia and industry, and broader public engagement through schools and outreach activities.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be conducted through coordinated technical development, pedagogical integration, and iterative testing. ESG content and course modules are developed alongside upgrades of the game platform. Pilot studies with students, industry, and schools provide continuous feedback for refinement. Finally, results are disseminated and a plan for long-term use and scale-up is established.
