Program Conference 2026 – Mission in Practice
The first Swedish Metals & Minerals Program Conference will take place on 6–7 October 2026 at Elite Hotel Marina Tower in Nacka, Stockholm. A lunch-to-lunch meeting with networking, inspiration and our "Project Arena" which will include presentations on ongoing projects funded through the program as well as a poster session.

Industry, academia and funding agencies - working together
Swedish Metals & Minerals is one of five programs within Impact Innovation - Sweden's major innovation initiative to tackle the challenges of our time and the future - an initiative by the Swedish Energy Agency, Formas and Vinnova. The program is stakeholder-driven in close collaboration with industry, academia and other relevant actors.

Roadmap for Swedish Metals & Minerals
The Roadmap sets out the challenges and desired future states that will guide the program’s work towards enabling a sustainable and resilient supply of metals and minerals for the societal transition. It covers the full value chain, from exploration and mining to processing, metals production, product use, competence supply and sustainability with an outlook towards 2035–2045.

Technology alone is not enough
The seminar brought together perspectives from different parts of the metals and minerals ecosystem and highlighted a central message: new solutions can only create impact when knowledge, regulation, collaboration and industrial capability develop alongside them.
System innovation is key
The discussion showed how technological innovation and system innovation need to progress together. This is essential if Sweden is to strengthen the conditions for a sustainable, resilient and competitive metals and minerals supply.
